The façade, the characteristic bell tower and the slate roof: last year saw an enormous amount of work being carried out on the listed town hall of Gennep in Limburg, dating from 1612. The work has now been completed and the scaffolding has been removed.
The first phase saw the restoration and redesign of the council chamber, where a huge rug catches the attention. The rug was designed especially for the town of Gennep and is printed with a contemporary depiction of the rich history of the town, done in the Gennep colours/ And now the exterior has been completed. The masonry has been repointed, window frames and shutters have been restored and insulating secondary windows have been fitted. The systems have been modernised and carefully installed out of view. The work was planned and executed around the special residents of the town hall - the historic roof has been the nesting site of storks for years.
