The new office and workshop of Finesse are already in use, and now the interior of the showroom has also been completed. The sustainable and demountable building features a transparent showroom at the corner, where the diversity of uses of wood is presented in an almost museum-like atmosphere.
The demand from Finesse, a company specialising in the manufacturing of wooden floors and interior elements, included new accommodation with, among other things, a showroom in which various wood applications have been incorporated so as to take full advantage of them. Wood is therefore central to the experience of the interior. Different finishes and techniques are presented to private and business customers here. In addition to panels, which can be seen on walls or stored in specially designed steel cabinets, the basis of the interior itself shows the possibilities of Finesse in an architectural way. The stairs and mezzanine, for example, are made of wood.
Wood is an important element in both the interior and the exterior. The new housing has been designed with a great sustainable ambition, with prefabricated pine wood elements influencing the architecture. The building is characterised by a strong rhythm of these elements, which also form the main construction and are visible both inside and outside. Profiled steel facade cladding in varying combinations provides a dynamic facade between these trusses. The combination of a timber structure with a steel support construction that has been applied as efficiently as possible has resulted in a significant decrease in the use of concrete. In addition, the steel and wooden parts are designed and detailed in such a way that they can be completely disassembled. In addition to the sustainable building structure, water buffering takes place on site, solar panels have been placed on the roof, and night ventilation ensures a low-tech but healthy indoor climate.
